This weekend was a busy one...
Friday was the Foofighters concert at Olympic park which I attended with my lady friend. The evening started off with a long train ride through stations with funny names which I have never heard of... Even then, the sky looked ominous and my prediction was that there was going to be a thunderstorm. God I hoped it was an indoor venue. It was in fact, which was good, but none the less we had to run a good ten minutes from the train station to the venue in the pouring rain, getting there completely soaked. Oh well, my concert experiences have taught me that you can drench your clothes in sweat within half an hour if they were completely dry to begin with so I thought I would dry up pretty quickly. But first things first, we needed to get loaded with alcohol! The line for booze was about 50 people long and and lasted the whole opening act which was about 45 min. When we finally got to the end, the only beer they had was VB (5 bucks!). God, I hate that crap. How can Australian men seriously keep a straight face and call that donkey urine good beer? Two drinks per person, given the situation of us being late, We skulled our drinks really quickly as a result, going into the spectacle good and drunk. The venue was HUGE! and by HUGE I mean to accommodate 20,000 people. I must say, I am a difficult person to impress and I was blown away. We were on the ground floor, somewhere in the middle and standing shoulder to shoulder with people all shapes and sizes. I say shapes and sizes because, being a fan of heavy music, and an attendee of heavy metal concerts, I was used to a predominantly male population, most of which are giants with tattoos and chains (and little ol' me in the middle). There were actually lots of chicks here... OH MY GOD!
The concert was great, I won't go into the setlists or the details but the sound system was good and clear, sometimes hard to see the band with the thousand people in front of you jumping like rabbits on acid, but all in all a rockin' good old time. The band kind of lost me by the end being that I wasn't a fan and didn't know many of the songs, but the ones I did, I put my heart into making the people next to me go to hell with broken toes. \m/ 7/10 \m/
Saturday:
The whole of Saturday was a failed attempt at doing some school work being my mind was elsewhere. Teachers are at my neck for assignments, chewing my eyes out for homework, and kicking my bum for attendance. But not even that was a good enough motivation.
The good stuff...
DJ Sasha was on at Home (The best club in Sydney in my opinion!) and I went there with that same lady friend and Misha (the bear). We got there at about 11ish and it was still empty. So we hung out and waited... waited... waited. After a while, we decided to pop and go dance. We were on the little platform at the east end of the club when a piece of metal fell from the roof and hit LF in the head! She seemed ok until the waterfall of blood came pouring down her face! We all panicked and ran to get some help... Why her? WHY ME?!?! The first aid people were very nice, took good care of her and the owner even came to help. His contribution was 50 bucks for a cab so we could get her cleaned up and come back. The cab ride was like chewing a pine cone since we were on the same street as the club in a jam for about 20 min. UNF*CKINGBELIEVABLE! Finally we got to her place, and starting going off. She got cleaned up, we ran out, jumped in the cab and headed straight back to the party... It was all good for an hour or so, Sasha wasn't on until 3 and it was only 1:30 when so we started coming down before it even started. The rest of the night was a long fade out... Things got slower and more boring until we had to give up and go home. Stayed up until 6 chatting and finally conked out.
Not a bad night because the worst night with your best friends is better than the best night with your worst enemies. I was hoping for more (or less considering the piece of metal!) but I can't complain. Life is a party (I have said that before haven't I?) so enjoy it and stop asking so many damn questions! :-)
Cheers.
